1. Introduction

series of the same name.

The game is available for both the PS2 and XBOX. I've played this game on the
Xbox but PS2 players may also find this guide helpful.

===============
3.3 Menu System
===============

There are four options in the main menu: Play Game, Custom Wrestler, Media
Room, Game Options

There are two options in the Play Game Menu: Career and Exhibition

Career takes you to mission mode when you can load a career in progress or
start at new career profile. Starting a new career prompts you for a name for
the profiles an then takes you to a selection screen. If you've previously
cleared mission mode, Backyard Brawlers will be available to select a Backyard
Wrestling celebrities. Otherwise you can choose to create or edit a custom
wrestler. See the Career Mode Section for more details on the career, and the
Custom Wrestler section for more details on creating your custom wrestler.

Exhibition sets up a quick one or two player fight. Select the two combatants
from the 25 Backyard Brawlers or the up to 5 custom character. The characters
selected must by different. After selecting the wrestlers, choose one of the
ten locales for the bout.

Custom Wrestlers takes you to a list of custom wrestlers. You can create up
to five custom wrestlers here. See the Custom Wrestler section for more
details on creating your custom wrestler.

The media room takes you to a submenu which lets you view "BYW Videos" and
"Game Videos" both of which are listed in the Unlockables sections. The Xbox
version features "Game Trailers" for "ShellShock Nam'67" and "Crash 'N' Burn".

Game options allow you to set the difficulty to low, medium, or high. The
only real difference I've noticed is the AI opponents move slightly more
randomly at the lower difficulties. There are also toggles for Vibration and
Blood, Volume controls for effects and music, and a mono/stereo audio mode
toggle.

==============
3.4 Pause Menu
==============

When you pause a battle there are four options in the pause menu: Resume,
Jukebox, Audio Adjust, and Quit. Exhibition Mode has a another option Restart.
If you're currently in a mission or challenge you'll also have a Mission or
Challenge option to review the in game briefing.

Resume returns to the match.

Jukebox allows you to adjust the music select. (Xbox users can add any
soundtrack saved to the Xbox hard disk. See the soundtrack section for the
music selection.

Audio Adjust allows you to set the volumes for effects and music.

Restart aborts an exhibition match and starts over with both wrestlers at full
health.

Quit aborts the fight. No money will be earned in Career Mode.

Color brings up a color choose with three sliders. The top one (color) ranges
from 0 to 360, while the bottom two (brightness and contrast) range from 0 to
100. The selected color is displayed in a box to the top right.

Move sets the X coordinate from -95 to 96 and the Y coordinate from -256 to
256. Note: most of the Y range isn't visible.

Resize sets a scaling factor in both the X and Y directions from between 0.10
and 2.00.

Skew adjusts the X and Y axis between values of -2.0 and 2.0.

The layer can be flipped on both the X and Y axes.

******************************************************************************
5. Combat Tactics
******************************************************************************

===========
5.1 Stamina
===========

There is a stamina bar at the top of the HUD for both wrestlers. These start
out at full at the beginning of most battles unless you're in a scenario where
you need to defeat multiple opponents on the same stamina bar.

Reducing an opponents stamina bar using a variety of attacks is necessary for
victory. Reducing it to zero causes the opposing wrestler to be "Knocked
Out" by most attacks, or "Tapped Out" by submissions. When the bar is in the
red the opponent (or yourself) is extremely vulnerable to being "Pinned". If
you pull off a victory with your bar fully green, the opponent will be
"Owned".

If you stand idle, i.e. not moving, holding a weapon, or crouching to jump,
the stamina bar will slowly regenerate. Pause for a second when an opponent is
knocked down or stunned to regenerate a sliver of stamina before following up.

=========
5.2 Turbo
=========

The other bar on the HUD for both opponents is the Turbo bar. When the bar is
completely filled This starts out at zero and gradually fills up over time
taking 33 seconds to go from empty to full. Turbo is used for dashing,
dashing attacks, guard breaks, attack counters, ground submissions, grapple
escapes, and super moves.

I prefer to save the turbo for ground submissions and grapple escapes.
However, a guard break when a fallen opponent is getting up can leave them
stunned for another combo.

===============================================
5.3 Blocking, Guard Breaks, and Attack Counters
===============================================

Damage from many attacks can be negated by blocking. However blocks are
vulnerable to guard breaks and grappling so use one of those maneuvers if your
opponent is blocking.

If you have the turbo meter almost for you can attempt an attack counter by
pressing the two buttons required simultaneous as the attack is about to begin
to reverse the attack damaging your opponent instead.

==========
5.4 Combos
==========

Mashing either of the attack buttons will likely result in a three hit combo
on a non-blocking opponent. Try alternating the attack buttons for a four or
five hit combo. Guard break, use an grapple attack throw, or Irish whip your
opponent it to leave him/her exposed to a combo.

When an opponent is blocking your combo either switch to a guard break or
grapple or evade a potential dash attack by going to his/side and resume the
attack.

=============
5.5 Grappling
=============

The best time to grapple is while you're opponent is either blocking or laying
on the ground, the opponent is vulnerable in both situations. Just after
blocking an opponents combo can also be a good opportunity to start a grapple.

A stunned opponent cannot be grappled, use a combo to knock him/her down
first.

You're opponent will likely reverse or use a grapple escape on several of your
grappling attempts, be prepared to do the same in return or if you end up in a
grapple of his own. Attempt the grapple escape if your turbo is full otherwise
try to second guess the attack type. Remember that the Irish whip or Enviro-
Mental Throw can only be done from the front so this can improved the odds if
you're being grappled from a different direction.

If you on the edge of a platform while front grappling and opponent you pick
them up in preparation for a ledge throw. Press either attack button to
perform the throw.

You can drag your opponent to a better position (i.e. for a ledge throw or
enviro-mental attack) if doing a front grapple. Be warned that you can only
maintain the grapple for about two second.

If you have a full turbo meter (super icon showing) you can attempt a super
move in the front grapple by pressing the two attack buttons at the same time.
The timing needs to be exact so its likely that you'll get a slam or attack
throw instead.

If you find yourself grappling from behind or to the side and want to use an
Irish whip or super move you'll need to change position to get into a front
grapple.

If you do the submission attack from the grapple mash one of the buttons to
increase the damage done.

You can string the grapples together. Most grapples attacks except the attack
throws leave your opponent on the ground vulnerable to another grapple.
Attack throws leave the opponent stunned a prime target for a combo that will
knock him/her back down to be grappled again. Saving turbo for a grapple
escape when you get reversed can extend the string. You're opponent will get
up right away after an Enviro-Mental throw but can usually be grappled again
if your quick enough.

================
5.6 Dash Attacks
================

If you have some turbo built up you can start dashing when moving towards your
opponent and use one of the attack buttons to do the dash attack to hopeful
knock the opponent down. Can be blocked, so be prepared to stop and guard
break instead if you see your opponent blocking.

===========
5.7 Weapons
===========

Each level as several weapons laying around or form when another item breaks.
Use the three attack buttons when carrying a weapon to attack your opponent.
Can be strung into combos that may knock your opponent down. With the right
weapon you can deal a lot of damage before your opponent manages to knock it
away. If the opponent is blocking, run a few steps away and to the side to
avoid possible dash attacks and try to attack again as the opponent chases
you.

You won't be able to regenerate stamina or climb on platforms while carrying
weapons.

The weapons vary in the amount of damage that they inflict, their reach,
speed, and durability.

Some weapon attacks may throw the weapon away.

If you take damage while carrying a weapon you'll drop the weapon.

====================================
5.8 Capitalizing on Fallen Opponents
====================================

When an opponent is on the ground, and opportunity presents itself to inflict
some free damage. Go up to the fallen opponent and present either attack
button to do a ground attack, this also applies if you're carrying a weapon.

If you have a lot of turbo built up, you can to a ground submission instead.
Go up to the fallen opponent, hold the turbo button, and press the submission
button. Mash a button during the submission hold to increase.

If the opponents stamina is well into the red (about 1.5x the width of one of
the timer digits), you can attempt a pin. Mash a button to increase the chance
of the pin succeeding.

If you can climb onto a nearby platform, a fallen opponent is vulnerable to a
jump attack. Warning a missed jump attack leaves you laying on the ground for
a while vulnerable to ground attacks from your opponent.

One more option is to grapple the fallen opponent. This opens the door to the
grapple being escaped or reverse though.

This area is a small backyard.

Low Platforms: Car in the left corner, trailer in the rear corner, picnic
table to the front right (destroyable).

High Platforms: Roof of house by the trailer

Destroyable items: shed to right of car, doghouse on right side, picnic table,

(breakable)

Environmental: Near picnic table (one time only as it destroys the table),
trunk of car, fences on the rear left and right

Hazards: Burning Barrel on left side near car. The bat burns and can be used
to set fire to the trailer or the pile of leaves in the front corner.

Spectators for interactions: lining front left and right sides.

Notes: The weed whacker with its long reach, and the barbwire baseball bat
are both excellent weapons the will serve you well in any fights in this
level. Attack opponents with combos from either weapon to knock them down,
hit them again when they're down, back or run a few steps away, a repeat the
process when they approach you. Add fire to the bat from the burning barrel
to the left for extra damage.

Mission #1: Blocking
--------------------

In Game Description:
--
Block Three Attacks

Perhaps the single most important new feature in Backyard Wrestling 2 is the
addition of Blocking as a defensive option. All Punches, Kicks, and Turbo
Attacks can be Blocked, but Blocking is vulnerable to Grapples and Guard
Breaks. Give Blocking a try and successfully Block three Attacks.
--

Prerequisites: None

Strategy: Hold the block button until you've been attacked three times. The
blocks can come in different fights. Progress will be saved if you return to
the level select screen. Complete the match after finishing the mission to
earn the bonus points and money.

Mission #2: Punch/Kick Combos
-----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Perform Three Punch/Kick Combos

The staple of any great Backyard Wrestler is his ability to whittle away at
his opponent's Stamina with quick hitting Punches and devastating Kicks. Punch
and Kick Combinations have returned to Backyard Wrestling 2 with some new and
exciting changes, the most obvious change being that not all combinations
result in your opponent hitting the ground. Experiment with your Punch and
Kick combos to see which ones are ideal for you play style.
--

Prerequisites: None

Strategy: While it is possible to get longer combos all that is required to
complete this mission is the 2 hit combo which can be easily performed when
the opponent isn't blocking by mashing either of the attack buttons (This will
likely result a 3 hit combo). Pull off three of these to complete the
mission. The combos can come in different fights. Progress will be saved if
you return to the level select screen. Complete the match after finishing the
mission to earn the bonus points and money.

Mission #3: Grapple Arts
------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Perform Four Grapple Attacks

Backyard Wrestling 2's Standing Grapple system is comprised primarily of four
different Attack Types: Attack Throws, Slams, Irish Whips, and the newest
Attack Type, Submissions. They all have their unique purposes (Attack Throws,
for instance, leave you opponent stunned, and thus open to further attack);
try four Grapple Attacks and try to discover the best situation in which to
perform all the different Grapple attacks.

--

Prerequisites: None

Strategy: You'll need to grapple your opponent four times and pull off one of
the four grapple attack types. The best time to grapple is while you're
opponent is either blocking or laying on the ground. A stunned opponent
cannot be grappled, use a combo to knock him/her down first.

You're opponent will likely reverse or use a grapple escape on several of your
attempts, be prepared to do the same in return. Attempt the grapple escape if
your turbo is full otherwise try to second guess the attack type. Remember
that the Irish whip can only be done from the front so this can improved the
odds if you're being grappled from a different direction.

The grapple attacks can come in different fights. Progress will be saved if
you return to the level select screen. Complete the match after finishing the
mission to earn the bonus points and money.

Mission #4: Dash Attacks
------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Perform Five Dash Attacks

Dash Attacks are the "Jack of All Trade" moves in Backyard Wrestling 2. They
serve a variety of purposes, and as such are an important part of your
wrestling arsenal. Dash Attacks have a longer range that you normal Punches
and Kicks, so use them when you want to knock your opponent down from long
distance. Dash Attacks are also powerful enough to destroy parts of the
environment, which is helpful in creating makeshift weapons. Show your
opponent no mercy, and land five Dash Attacks.
--

Prerequisites: None

Strategy: Dash Attacks require turbo so you'll need to wait a while between
attempts. Run around until you have some turbo built up and then head towards
your opponent, press and hold turbo, and press one of the attack buttons to do
that dash attack. Connect five times to complete the mission.

You may want to edit you dash attacks to be something when you remain standing
like the left or right clothesline.

The dash attacks can come in different fights. Progress will be saved if you
return to the level select screen. Complete the match after finishing the
mission to earn the bonus points and money.

Mission #5: Whacker Usage
-------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Get to Know the Weed Whacker

Becoming familiar with the weapons in your environment is one of the most
crucial aspects of Backyard Wrestling 2. Knowing how to use that barbed wire
bat or fluorescent tube can mean the difference between being the next local
chump or this year's champ. In this case, knowing how to trim your opponent
with a Weed Whacker will earn you some extra cash. Use it three times, and
the cash is yours.
--

Prerequisites: None

Strategy: Grab the weed whacker to the left of the trailer. Attack your
opponent three times with it to complete the mission.

If you get attacked you'll drop the weed whacker and will need to pick it up
again.

If you're opponent blocks, run a few steps away and attack as the opponent
chases you.

The attacks with the weed-whacker can come in different fights. Progress will
be saved if you return to the level select screen. Complete the match after
finishing the mission to earn the bonus points and money.

Zandig and earn yourself some respect, and some cash!

extra little bit may be enough to beat the challenge.

----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Title Defense!

Now that you've got the belt around your waist, everyone's itching for a
chance to take it from you. Successfully defend your title to earn some extra

Strategy: This is a typical fight against one of the generic opponents. Use a
strategy similar to what worked for you on Zandig, Ruckus, and the Double or

If you lose you'll need to play through the Eastern Tournament at the pool
again, but you'll still have access to the Western Tier and the new shop items
that became available. Previously completed title defenses in other areas
will remain completed. When you win the Tournament again you can make another

attacks against your opponent until he/she starts to block. Hold the turbo

mission to earn the bonus points and money.

Mission #3: Ground Attacks
--------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Perform Five Ground Attacks

nothing wrong with kicking a man when he's down - especially when he'd do the
same to you if he had the chance. An opponent on the ground is virtually
helpless, and susceptible to free damage. The quickest way to accomplish this
is usually with Ground Attacks. Getting close to an opponent on the ground
and pressing the Punch or Kick button will result in a quick Ground Attack.
Try five of these.
--

Prerequisites: None

Strategy: First you'll need to knock down your opponent, either use a combo,
grapple, or dash attack. Then approach the fallen opponent and press either
attack button to do the ground attack. Repeat five times to complete the

the tide with Attack Counters. Attack Counters "catch" your opponent's Punch,
Kick, Turbo, and Guard Break attempts and dole out an attack of their own.
Since this technique requires a great deal of timing and practice to perform
reliably, this mission will only require one successful Counter. Mastering
this technique is up to you.
--

simultaneously as your opponent is about to attack. Complete the match after
finishing the mission to earn the bonus points and money.

a table, then hopping up on it for a quick jump. You only need to land one to
complete this mission.
--

combo, dash attack, or grapple. Then get on the picnic table or the truck to
the right. If you're crouching and the fallen opponent is in range and you

Every good Wrestler has an awesome Super Move; you better work on yours if
you're going to make it to the Final Tournament! You can go for your Super
Move any time you have full Turbo Meter, but be careful - Turbo takes a very
long time to regenerate, and performing your Super Move early will leave you
without many defensive options, not to mention without Turbo Attacks. Try to

Mission #2: Ledge Throws
------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Perform Two Ledge Throws

The Ledge Throw isn't a technique you often get an opportunity to practice,
but it's a great tool to be aware of when the opportunity arises. If you
have your opponent in a Front Grapple while approaching a ledge (like the edge
of the Pool), you scoop him up into your arms. From this positions, you can

protect yourself against the attack that's going to leave you the most
vulnerable in most situations by using Grapple Reversals. You might want to
guess Attack Throws early, as those have the greatest potential for additional
damage. Later in the match, you might want to guess Slams and Submissions,
since those pose the greatest danger to ending a match. Try to form a
strategy for Reversals; land three successful ones.
--

Prerequisites: None.

Strategy: You need to let yourself get grapples for this, start out by
blocking
and wait for you opponent to grapple you or grapple him and try the reversals
after you opponent does one of his/her own. Try to second guess which type of
grapple attack your opponent will use and press the appropriate button to
reverse it. You have a 25% chance of guessing correctly from a front grapple
at a 33.3% chance from side or back grapples as the Irish whip is not

Grapple Reversal system. If you need to get out of a Grapple immediately, go
for a Grapple Meter Escape. Be careful though: Grapple Meter Escapes take a
lot of Turbo, and your opponent can always do one back to you, provided he has
enough Turbo. You might want to save these for when your opponent has
recently used his Turbo for another maneuver and cannot escape your escape.
Land three of these.
--

Prerequisites: None

Strategy: Wait for your turbo meter to fill up and then wait for your opponent
to grapple you. Press both buttons required for the escape. Repeat three

don't get discouraged, this is your fist step towards greatness!

Now that you've got the belt around your waist, everyone's itching for a

cash, but be warned - if you lose this title defense, you'll have to re-enter
the Tier Tournament to get it back.
--

strategy similar to what worked for you on Sick Nick Mondo, Vic Grimes, and
the Double or Nothing challenges.

again, but you'll still have access to the Western Tier and the new shop items
that became available. Previously completed title defenses in other areas
will remain completed. When you win the Tournament again you can make another
attempt at this challenge.

If things are going poorly you can be cheap an quit mid battle to preserve

---------------
6.2.1 Mini Golf
---------------

Area Overview
-------------

This area spans a few holes of a mini golf course.

Low Platforms: Ledge to the right

High Platforms: None

Destroyable items: Buildings to front, volcano to rear, elephant to rear,
blades on windmill

Weapons: Destroyed Building, garbage cans, garbage can lids, golf clubs

Environmental: Amongst building, by wall to left, by ledge to right, tusk,
head, and/or ears of destroyed elephant, broken windmill blades (breakable)

Hazards: Fire inside destroyed volcano

Spectators for interactions: None

Notes: The best weapon here is the elephant tusk, if it appears, with its
long reach and fairly quick attack speed. (The ears are also good but have a
shorter reach and are less likely to get a knockdown) The opponents here are a
lot more likely to use dash attacks on getting up causing you to lose grip on
the weapon, so you may want to try stringing together a series of grapples.

When stringing grapples, vary the attack between grapple to avoid getting
predictable. Use quick three hit combos on the opponents stunned by the
attack throws to knock them down for the next grapple. Other grapple attacks
typically leave the opponent on the ground for an easy grapple. Save your
turbo for escape your opponents groups when he/she reverses or escapes to pull
off an escape of your own.

There are a lot of enviro-mental opportunities on this level that can do a lot
of damage but the opponent gets up automatically afterwards breaking the
string of grapples.

Mission #1: Avoiding Attacks
----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Make Your Opponent Miss 20 Attacks

Pure avoidance is often an effective way at forcing your opponent to open
himself to counterattack. While many attacks are quick t execute, they are
oftentimes slower to recover, which leaves your opponent vulnerable to
devastating punishment. Just how to punish your opponent is up to you; this
Mission simply asks that your make your opponent miss 20 attacks.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the Eastern Tier Tournament

Strategy: All you need to do is run about as your opponent is attacking, maybe
using turbo to get out of the way. The mission is complete once your opponent
misses 20 attacks. Missed jump attacks do not necessarily count.

The missed attacks can come in different fights. Progress will be saved if you
return to the level select screen. Complete the match after finishing the
mission to earn the bonus points and money.

Mission #2: Block and Counter
-----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Block an Attack and Counter With a Throw Five Times

this mission will introduce one way of dealing with Punch and Kick combos
using blocking. After Blocking a full or even partial string, there is a
good chance that your opponent will be open for at least a Grapple attempt.
Grapples aren't a guaranteed damage opportunity, buy they are slightly safer
than retaliating with a Punch or Kick combo of your own. block your
opponent's attack and counter with a throw five times.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the Eastern Tier Tournament

Strategy: Block until your opponent attacks with a combo. After the block,
try to get the opponent a grapple, there's no need to complete the grapple
attack as you get credit once the grapple begins.

The block and grapples can come in different fights. Progress will be saved if
you return to the level select screen. Complete the match after finishing the
mission to earn the bonus points and money.

Mission #3: First Attack
------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Get the First Attack Mission Bonus Five Times

Having initiative and setting the tone of the match are very important in
Backyard wrestling 2 - so important, that you are awarded bonus money in each
match that you successfully land the first attack! Typically, the easiest
for of attack is a Punch or Kick combo, but a good Grapple is harder to defend
against, particularly against a full Turbo meter. Try this out five times,
and make it a staple of your offense. make sure to stick around for the money
bonus, else your first attacks won't count!

--

Prerequisites: Have won the Eastern Tier Tournament

Strategy: Keep playing matches until you get in the first shot in five of
them. It doesn't match if you win or lose as long as you complete the match
to get the bonus points and money. Between matches you can return to the
level select screen and your progress will be saved. If you're opponent gets
in the first shot, you may simple quit the battle in progress and restart to
save some time or continue through for the bonus money.

Mission #4: Knockdowns
----------------------

In Game Description:
--
Perform Twenty Knockdowns

Getting your opponent's back (or stomach, as the case may be) on the ground is
a key step on the way to victory. Knockdowns from Punch and Kick Combos, Dash
Attacks, and Guard Breaks allow for additional offensive options like Ground
Attacks, Ground Submissions, Jumps, or even pickups into Grapples. With so
may options after Knockdowns, you're going to want to practice them a lot.
Here's your chance to do 20!
--

Prerequisites: Have won the Eastern Tier Tournament

Strategy: Use attack combos to get the knock downs. If your opponent starts
blocking use a guard break instead to stun you opponent to set up a combo. If
you grapple an opponent, use the attack throw to stun your opponent and set up
a combo as the other grapple attacks don't count. The elephant tusk (and
other weapons) can also be used to get knockdowns. The mission is complete
once you have twenty knock downs.

The knockdowns can and likely will come in different fights. Progress will be
saved if you return to the level select screen. Complete the match after
finishing the mission to earn the bonus points and money.

Mission #5: Horndog Hunt
------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat The Masked Horndog Three Times

In Backyard Wrestling, there are few things more satisfying than beating on
the ol' Horndog. Notching up a few wins against this character will be great
for your cred, so clean his clock three times and earn some respect. Just
avoid his... well, you know.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the Eastern Tier Tournament

Strategy: Fight matches until you encounter and defeat the Masked Horndog.
The Masked Horndog is a Backyard Wrestling Celebrity that has been mixed in
with the generic wrestlers in the western tier.

Either smash the elephant to get the tusk or an ear to attack him with or try
to get a string of grapple attacks going against him.

You can save your progress between victory by quitting to the level select
screen. If a wrestler other than the Masked Horndog appear you can quit and
restart the mission to save time.

Challenge #1: New Jack!
-----------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat New Jack stabbed Kelvin Finn in the eye. Then he ate a hamburger. Now
he wants to kick your ass! This guy jumps off of buses onto his opponents.
This guy used to kill people for a living. This guy can only be defeated by
Pin fall - you've been warned.
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Mini Golf missions

Strategy: Wear New Jack down with either the elephant tusk or by stringing
grapples together until his stamina is well into the red and then go for the
pin when he's on the ground.

You'll be disqualified if you either knock or tap him out.

Challenge #2: Messiah!
----------------------

In Game Description:
--
Jobber Wants a Shot

Looks like you're not the only faceless wonder looking for a shot at a million
bucks - you've been challenged by one of the local jobbers to an exhibition
match to showcase your skills. Accept this challenge and pick up a worthwhile
payday, but look out - word on the street is that Messiah is hanging around
the Golf Course. You never know when he might show up!
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Mini Golf missions

Strategy: You start off facing one of the generic wrestlers. After you do a
bit of damage, Messiah will double team your opponent before taking his/her
place. Don't use the elephant against the generic opponent or it may
disappear for the battle against Messiah, against whom it can be used to great
effect. Consider stringing grapple together for this battle as well.

Challenge #3: Double or Nothing!
--------------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Double or Nothing!

You've been challenged to a Double or Nothing Match! The details are simple:
win the match, earn double dollar amounts for your win. Lose the match, and
you earn nothing. Go get it!
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Mini Golf missions

Strategy: This is a typical fight against one of the generic opponents. Use a
strategy similar to what worked for you on New Jack (except for the pin only
requirement) and Messiah. The payout is double the normal amount when you
win.

Challenge #4: Survival Challenge!
---------------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Survival Challenge!

Looks like you've got another chance to prove yourself! Survive against three
opponents back-to-back and you're on your way to another payday.
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Mini Golf missions

Strategy: You'll need to get through three opponents with one stamina bar.
Expertise with the tusk is a must if you want to survive this. You'll need
some luck stringing grapples together as well until you can break the elephant
to get the tusk. Also try stringing grapples together, pausing for a second
before grabbing a fallen opponent or punching a stunned one to regenerate a
bit of stamina, the extra little bit may be enough to beat the challenge.

Challenge #5: Title Defense!
----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Title Defense!

Now that you've got the belt around your waist, everyone's itching for a
chance to take it from you. Successfully defend your title to earn some extra
cash, but be warned - if you lose this title defense, you'll have to re-enter
the Tier Tournament to get it back.
--

Prerequisites: Hold the Western Title.

Strategy: This is a typical fight against one of the generic opponents. Use a
strategy similar to what worked for you on New Jack, Messiah, and the Double
or Nothing challenges.

If you lose you'll need to play through the Western Tournament at the pool
again, but you'll still have access to the Northern Tier and the new shop
items that became available. Previously completed title defenses in other
areas will remain completed. When you win the Tournament again you can make
another attempt at this challenge.

If things are going poorly you can be cheap an quit mid battle to preserve
your title. Powering off at the "You Suck" screen works as well to preserve
your title.

6.2.2 Office
------------

Area Overview
-------------

This is an office with cubicles. Another room can be entered after destroying
the glass door at the back.

Low Platforms: Drink Machine to rear left, cupboard to front left

can be popped open.

Weapons: Folding chairs, swivel chairs, monitors from destroy cubicles,
computers from destroyed cubicles (breakable), broken fan

Environmental: Window in backroom, desk to front right

Hazards: None

Spectators for interactions: None

Notes: No really good weapons here, but the enviro-mental from the stapler in
the desk in the front right on the area does a lot of damage, constantly
grappling in this area and dragging your opponent to here can wear him/her
down
quickly.

Mission #1: Time Attack!
------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat Two Opponents Within Three Minutes Each

Okay, now it's time for a speed challenge! Get in, kick some ass, and get out
within three minutes! It sounds hard, but put all the offensive and defensive
tools you've been learning to work, and it'll all come together. One more
thing - just to make sure it's not a fluke, you have to do it twice. Enjoy!
--

Prerequisites: Have won the Eastern Tier Tournament

Strategy: Win two matches in under three minutes apiece. I don't think a
single match I've fought has exceed three minutes so this shouldn't present a
problem, all you really need to worry about is winning two matches. Use the
enviro-mental with the desk in the front right to deal a fair bit of damage.

Mission #2: Sans Dash Attacks
-----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat Two Opponents Without using Dash Attacks

Going without certain techniques is a good way to develop various skills. For
one, it teaches alternate methods of accomplishing tasks, thus removing the
likelihood of you developing crutches. It also illustrates just how important
some techniques are, increasing your appreciation of them. this first is a
series of "Sans" task requires that you defeat two opponents without the use
of Dash Attacks.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the Eastern Tier Tournament

Strategy: Be care not to use dash attacks or your victories won't count. The
enviro-mental with the stapler in the desk in the front right is a good way to
wear down opponents in this mission, but feel free to use other grapple moves
and punch and kick combos. Defeat two opponents without using dashes to
complete the missions.

The two victories do not have to follow each other and your progress will be
saved if you quit to return to the level select menu.

Mission #3: Sans GME
--------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat Two Opponents Without Grapple Meter Escapes

You're probably just getting comfortable with Grapple Meter Escapes, the "get
out of jail free" card of the Grapple system. Well, now it's time to take it
away! Try working more on staying out of Grapple range, and Reversing
Grapples
when that's not possible. Defeat two opponents sans Grapple Meter Escapes.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the Eastern Tier Tournament

Strategy: If you get grappled in this mission you must not use the grapple
meter escape, only attempt to match the upcoming attack for a reversals when
it a grapple. Otherwise, treat this like the previous missions, the stapler
in the desk is once again a good way to wear down your opponents, although the
lack of the Grapple Meter Escape makes it more dangerous than before. You'll
want to mix things up with combos and ground submissions to use up the turbo
removing the temptation to use the grapple meter escape.

The two victories do not have to follow each other and your progress will be
saved if you quit to return to the level select menu.

Mission #4: Sans Punch/Kick
---------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat Two Opponents Without Punches of Kicks

There's no other way to say this: this mission is hard! Punches and Kicks are
a staple of Backyard Wrestling 2. They set up most of the insane damage
opportunities, while doing respectable damage on their own. To get through
this mission, you're going to need to rely on your Grappling skills, as well
as your meter management. This might be a good time to get to know your Super
Move. Defeat two opponents without landing a single Punch or Kick.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the Eastern Tier Tournament

Strategy: DON'T PUNCH OR KICK, that's easier said than down as you've likely
got those ingrained by now. You'll be using the stapler in the desk
extensively in this mission. Mix in some other grapple moves if you're not in
range and ground submission when the opportunity presents itself. While the
weapons aren't great it is permissible to use them.

The two victories do not have to follow each other and your progress will be
saved if you quit to return to the level select menu.

Mission #5: Sans Blocking
-------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat Two Opponents Without Blocking

In our continuing experiment of "going without" certain techniques, we come to
Blocking. To successfully accomplish this mission, you're going to need to
fully exploit other techniques like Attack Counters, while trying to stay out
of range of your opponent's Attacks. A great way to avoid Blocking is to
constantly keep up the pressure - you don't have to Block if your opponent
never Attacks! in this case, thought, it's two opponents. Good luck.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the Eastern Tier Tournament

Strategy: Blocking's for sissies. Use the stapler in the desk and other
grapple moves with punch and kicks combos thrown in for good measure. Use
ground submission if the opportunity presents itself.

The two victories do not have to follow each other and your progress will be
saved if you quit to return to the level select menu.

Challenge #1: Sunrise Adams!
----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat Sunrise Adams With Only Half Stamina!

Okay, so Sunrise Adams isn't a professional ass-kicker, at this point, neither
are you! Here's your chance to put your hands all over a real-life porn star,
and earn a few bucks while you're at it. It's your life long dream! And just
like in real life, you don't have a whole lot of stamina to get it done with.
Matter of fact, for this match you only have half your normal Stamina - use it
wisely!
--

Prerequisites: Completed all five Office missions.

Strategy: Use the strategy from one of the Sans missions, get in some heavy
damage with the stapler in the desk in the front right, mix in other grapples
and combos, use ground submissions or the super move when the opportunity
arises. Fight well and you're reduced stamina won't be an issue.

Challenge #2: Kelvin Finn!
--------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Not sure what good fortune has brought you this gift, but it looks like Kelvin
Finn is available for a thrashing. It's almost like taking candy from a
baby...
--

Prerequisites: Completed all five Office missions.

Strategy: What worked against Sunrise will work here against this much abused
newsman: get in some heavy damage with the stapler in the desk in the front
right, mix in other grapples and combos, use ground submissions or the super
move when the opportunity arises.

Challenge #3: Double or Nothing!
--------------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Double or Nothing!

You've been challenged to a Double or Nothing Match! The details are simple:
win the match, earn double dollar amounts for your win. Lose the match, and
you earn nothing. Go get it!
--

Prerequisites: Completed all five Office missions.

Strategy: This is a typical fight against one of the generic opponents. Use a
strategy similar to what worked for you on Sunrise Adams and Kelvin Finn. The
payout is double the normal amount when you win.

Challenge #4: Survival Challenge!
---------------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Survival Challenge!

Looks like you've got another chance to prove yourself! Survive against three
opponents back-to-back and you're on your way to another payday.
--

Prerequisites: Completed all five Office missions.

Strategy: You'll need to get through three opponents with one stamina bar.
Timing the grapples well to use the stapler in the desk will help a lot here.
Try stringing grapples together, pausing for a second before grabbing a fallen
opponent or punching a stunned one to regenerate a bit of stamina, the extra
little bit may be enough to beat the challenge.

--

Prerequisites: Hold the Western Title

Strategy: This is a typical fight against one of the generic opponents. Use a
strategy similar to what worked for you on Sunrise Adams, Kelvin Finn, and the
Double or Nothing challenges.

If you lose you'll need to play through the Western Tournament at the pool
again, but you'll still have access to the Northern Tier and the new shop
items that became available. Previously completed title defenses in other
areas will remain completed. When you win the Tournament again you can make
another attempt at this challenge.

If things are going poorly you can be cheap an quit mid battle to preserve
your title. Powering off at the "You Suck" screen works as well to preserve
your title.

Environmental: Garbage bins, grill to back of kitchen, fryer to right of
kitchen, Near dining tables (one time only per table as it destroys the table)

Hazards: None

Spectators for interactions: None

Notes: The table top with a leg attached from the table neared the kitchen
counter is the best weapon with a decent reach and fast attack. The
enviro-mental options in the rear kitchen area can deal out a lot of damage.

Mission #1: Environment Throw
-----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Perform Four Enviro-Mental Throws in One Match

Enviro-Metal Throws are a great tool for incredible damage, and oftentimes the
destruction creates handy weapons you can use to knock your opponent silly.
Jumpy Burgers is full of great Enviro-Mental throw opportunities - a couple of
particularly devastating one can be found behind the counter. Land four in a
single match, and not only will you win the mission, you'll probably beat your
opponent in short order.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the Eastern Tier Tournament

Strategy: Since all four Enviro-Mental Throws need to be done is one match
concentrate on getting them in first. Climb over the counter into the kitchen
area and get your opponent into a front grapple. Drag him/her to either the
grill at the back left or to the fryer on the right and use an Enviro-Mental
Throw when the icon appears. Do this a total of four times in a single match
to complete the mission.

Complete the match after finishing the mission to earn the bonus points and
money.

Mission #2: Avoid Grapples
--------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Win Three Matches Without Being Thrown

If you've done all the missions up until this point, you've probably picked up
some pretty good avoidance skills by now. If you haven't picked up any,
here's your chance! Win three matches without being Thrown. This doesn't
mean you can't be Grappled, just make sure your opponent doesn't get a move
off by Grapple Meter Escaping or Reversing.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the Eastern Tier Tournament

Strategy: Save your turbo for Grapple Meter escapes if you get grapples.
Avoid grappling yourself and thus the possibility of being escaped or reversed
into a grabble. Keep to the kick and punch combos. You may also get lucky
using one of the chairs or the table top with leg as a weapon.

The three victories do not have to follow each other and your progress will be
saved if you quit to return to the level select menu. If you do get thrown
you can quit and then restart to save time.

Mission #3: Blocking Test
-------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Block Thirty Attacks

It's time to test your level of confidence and comfort in the new Blocking
system. Go the distance and Block thirty attacks. Be careful, though, simply
standing in front of your opponent while Blocking is a great way to get
Grappled. A big part of successful Blocking is simply knowing when to Block.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the Eastern Tier Tournament

Strategy: Hold the block button down until you've blocked 30 attacks.

The block can come in different fights. Progress will be saved if you return
to the level select screen. Complete the match after finishing the mission to
earn the bonus points and money.

Mission #4: Endurance Test
--------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Win a Match With at Least 80% of Your Stamina Bar Left

Hopefully this mission can teach you to be more economical with your Stamina.
A great way to stay out of danger is to keep you Stamina bar high. It makes
pins easier to get out of, and it eliminates Submissions and Knockouts as
potential match-ender. This isn't an easy task, but that's what makes it so
fun! Make sure your Stamina indicator stays above the 80% mark, and defeat
just one opponent.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the Eastern Tier Tournament

Strategy: Try to break the table nearest the counter early to grab the top
with leg and wear down you opponent with it quickly before you take much
damage or try to take him/her out with a chair. You can also try stringing
grapples and pausing near fallen or stunned opponents to regeneration some
stamina. Another thing to try is running back at forth over the counter and
pause on the other side to regenerate stamina until your opponent starts to
cross but you'll likely fall prey to some jump attacks doing so.

Win the match with the stamina bar still above the red line and you'll
complete the mission.

Mission #5: Win Streak!
-----------------------

In Game Description:
--
Win Five Matches in a Row

It's once again time to put your total skills up to this point to test. This
time defeating five guys in a row will be significantly harder than the last
time. Then again, if you've been training hard, you should be significantly
better than the last time. Don't give up, and defeat five opponents back-to-
back.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the Eastern Tier Tournament

Strategy: Strategy: You need to win five matches in a row against generic
opponents. Use chairs or the table top with a leg as weapon to wear down the
opponents. The enviro-mental attacks in the kitchen area can also inflict a
great deal of damage. Your stamina is regenerated for each new match in the
series.

If you lose the count gets reset forcing you to start over. Progress will be
saved if you return to the level select screen, so you can be cheap and quit
mid battle when you get in trouble to preserve your win streak.

Challenge #1: Luke Hadley!
--------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat Luke Hadley in an "I Quit" Match!

A true legend in the making, Backyard Wrestler Luke Hadley is known for
smashing his opponent apart with tree trunks - handing you your walking papers
shouldn't be too difficult! What's worse is that the only way you can end
this match is if you make him quit through submission. You can do all kinds
of other damage to whittle you opponent's Stamina bar down, but the final
chunk has to be removed via Submission to score the win.
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Restaurant missions.

Strategy: Like the mission battles here you can grab a chair or the table top
with a leg attached to wear down Luke. Once he gets into the red you need to
switch to grapples and use the submission attacks to finish him off. Ground
submissions work as well and can't be reversed so use these if the opportunity
presents itself.

If you pin him or knock him out you'll be disqualified and half to try again.

Challenge #2: Jobber Challenge!
-------------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Jobber Wants a Shot

--
You've been challenged to a Double or Nothing Match! The details are simple:
win the match, earn double dollar amounts for your win. Lose the match, and
you earn nothing. Go get it!

opponents back-to-back and you're on your way to another payday.
--

Expertise with the chair and table top with leg are a must if you want to
survive this.

--

Prerequisites: Hold the Western Title

Strategy: This is a typical fight against one of the generic opponents. Use
strategies similar to fighting Luke Hadley, the jobber challenge, or the
Double or Nothing challenges.

If you lose you'll need to play through the Western Tournament at the pool
again, but you'll still have access to the Northern Tier and the new shop
items that became available. Previously completed title defenses in other
areas will remain completed. When you win the Tournament again you can make
another attempt at this challenge.

If things are going poorly you can be cheap an quit mid battle to preserve
your title. Powering off at the "You Suck" screen works as well to preserve
your title.

Title Tournament
----------------

A cut scene plays at the beginning of the tournament.

Prerequisites: Complete all fifteen Western Tier missions

Strategy: The western tournament is held at the Restaurant. You'll face four
of the generic opponents on your way to the top. Use strategies similar to
fighting Luke Hadley, the jobber challenge, or the Double or Nothing
challenges (assuming you didn't skip them).

If you return to the level select your tournament progress will be lost.

Another cut scene plays after winning the tournament and the northern tier is
unlocked. The Western tier title defences are now available so you can go
back to the Mini Golf, Office, and Restaurant to complete those.

=================
6.3 Northern Tier
=================

The Northern tier is unlocked after you obtain the western championship There
are three new areas available: the Construction Site, the Brewery, and the
Junkyard. Once again each area has 5 mandatory missions and 5 optional
challenges. Four of the challenges become available after the 5 missions for
the level are complete, the fifth is a title defense that becomes available
after winning the tournament. The Junkyard is also the site of the Northern
Tier Tournament in which you and the 15 generic opponents will compete for the
Northern Title after you've completed the 15 missions.

Brutality

-----------------------
6.3.1 Construction Site
-----------------------

Area Overview
-------------

This area is the site when a new building is being constructed, a debris pile
to the left of the building can be destroyed to open an area with outhouses,
and a wooden cover on the ground can be destroyed to open up a pit

Low Platforms: lumber pile (to ground), ground level into pit after covering
lumber destroyed

High Platforms: inside building (to ground), lumber pile to pit

Destroyable items: piled debris to left of building (opens path to outhouses),
wooden cover over pit, back wall of building, barricades to front right.

Weapons: Jackhammer, wheelbarrow, shovel, orange pylons, drill, sledgehammer,
pieces from debris pile after destroying it (breakable), something yellow with
sharp point from behind debris pile, broken barricades (breakable)

Environmental: piled debris to left of building, outhouses behind debris pile

Hazards: None

Spectators for interactions: None

Notes: The orange pylons, sledge hammer, and shovel make excellent weapons
with their long reach and fast attacks. The drill in the building where you
start out packs a powerful punch if you can time its slower attacks well.

Mission #1: Endurance Test 2
----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Win a bout with less than 10% Stamina

You might be scratching your head on this one, but this mission does in fact
teach you an important skill; that of "clutch." Being on your last leg and
still managing to eke out the win is absolutely necessary in maximizing your
potential - every win counts in the Final Tournament. Let your opponent take
you down to your last bit of health, marked with the indicator, and then beat
him.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the western title.

Strategy: Fight normally until you get your opponent down to his/her last
sliver of stamina. The let your opponent beat on you until your stamina goes
below the red line marking 10%. After your stamina is below this line land
the final blow to finish your opponent off.

Mission #2: Jump Attacks 2
--------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Perform Three Jump Attacks in a Single Match

The only possible way to accomplish this mission is to keep your opponent
knocked down. Hopefully by now you've figured out which moves help your
opponent knocked down longer than others' this will help you reliably climb to
heights from which you can Jump onto your opponent. Be careful how to apply
your damage, though - you're going to need to land all three Jumps in one
match! Your might want to stick to one-off moves like Dash Attacks and Guard
Breaks for set-ups.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the western title.

Strategy: Try to knock your opponent down a level with a combo or Irish whip
and then go to the ledge where you should be is a crouch which you can to a
jump attack from while he/she is still on the ground. Repeat two more times
in this match to complete the mission.

Complete the match after finishing the mission to earn the bonus points and
money.

Mission #3: Ledge Throws 2
--------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Perform 4 Consecutive Ledge Throws in a Single Match

If you don't know what the word "consecutive" means, this mission might sound
easy. But when you realize that this mission ask for four Ledge Throws back-
too-back without the use of any other Attack Types, it gets interesting. The
best way to go about this is to have your opponent come to you. Perform a
Knockdown and instead of performing some sort of Ground Attack, climb to a
height and wait for your opponent to come to you. then, land a Grapple and
try to move towards an edge. The rest should be pretty simple.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the western title.

Strategy: You'll have at easier time of this if you wait for the pit to be
opened up first. While on the ground level get your opponent into a front
grapple and drag him/her to the edge of the pit so that you pick him/her up.
Use either attack button to perform the ledge throw. If you just threw your
opponent wait at ground level, if you jumped with him/her climb back to ground
level. Wait for your opponent to climb out of the pit and repeat the process.
Do four ledge throws it a row to complete the mission.

Complete the match after finishing the mission to earn the bonus points and
money.

Mission #4: Sans Super
----------------------

In Game Description:
--
Win 5 Matches Without Using Your Super Move

And here you thought you were done with all the Sans missions! Super Moves
are a great way to inflict huge amounts of damage on your opponent very
quickly and reliably - just make sure you don't develop a dependency on them
though! Super Moves have one downfall: they use up a lot of Turbo meter.
instead of using it all up on one move, try out more Turbo Attacks and Attack
Counters - you may find that with follow-ups they yield more total damage than
a Super Move!
--

Prerequisites: Have won the western title.

Strategy: With weapons like the orange pylons and shovel laying around there
won't be any need to use the super move. If your like me, you won't have
master the time required to pull off the super move (my first time through I'd
only pulled off the one required for an earlier mission at this point). Just
grab a weapon at wear don't your opponent with it. Throw in some ledge throws
and combos followed by jump attacks if you want or string grapples together.

The five victories do not have to follow each other and your progress will be
saved if you quit to return to the level select menu.

Mission #5: Sans Grapples
-------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Win five Matches Without Using Grapples

If you've gotten a good grasp of all the various offensive and defensive
options that exit in Backyard Wrestling 2, then this mission should be a snap.
Grapples do a big chunk of damage, but they are certainly not the end-all, be-
all of your arsenal. learn to use Punch and Kick combos effectively in
combination with Dash Attacks, and make sure to keep your opponents honest
with your various defensive techniques. Beat five guys without having to
Grapple them once - this is almost like a vacation!
--

Prerequisites: Have won the western title.

Strategy: This is almost the same as the previous mission, you'll be relying
on the orange pylons and shovel, and mixing in some ledge throw, and combos
knocking your opponent of a ledge followed by a jump. If you reverse or
escape an opponents grapple or accidentally begin a grapple wait two seconds
for
him/her to pull free without using an attack.

Challenge #1: Supreme!
----------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat Supreme Twice on the Same Bar of Stamina!

Supreme is going to hurt you. Badly. It's okay, he does that to everyone.
What's not okay is you ruining your chance at greatness by not accepting this
offer! Defeating Supreme once is nearly impossible. Beating him twice is
unheard of, but if you've got what it takes, this match will bring the best
out of you.
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Construction Site missions.

Strategy: This is somewhat like the Survival Challenges on previous levels,
although you only need to defeat Supreme twice on the same stamina bar.
Expertise with the pylons, sledge hammer, and shovel will help wear him down.
Stringing grapples and combos together to grab a short stamina regeneration
break over your fallen or stunned opponent may help as well.

Challenge #2: Andrew WK!
------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Andrew WK?

Wrestling may not be his first love, but Andrew WK has the determination and
the tenacity to will himself to excel at whatever he puts his mind to. Show
him you're living life to the fullest by maximizing your potential and kicking
his ass!
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Construction Site missions.

Strategy: This should be easy after Supreme. Use the same strategy although
its only necessary to beat Andrew WK once.

Challenge #3: Double or Nothing!
--------------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Double or Nothing!

You've been challenged to a Double or Nothing Match! The details are simple:
win the match, earn double dollar amounts for your win. Lose the match, and
you earn nothing. Go get it!
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Construction Site missions.

Strategy: This is a typical fight against one of the generic opponents. Use a
strategy similar to what worked for you on Supreme and Andrew WK. The payout
is double the normal amount when you win.

Challenge #4: Survival Challenge!
---------------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Survival Challenge!

Looks like you've got another chance to prove yourself! Survive against three
opponents back-to-back and you're on your way to another payday.
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Construction Site missions.

Strategy: You'll need to get through three opponents with one stamina bar.
Expertise with the orange pylons, shovel, and/or sledgehammer is a must if you
want to survive this. Also try stringing grapples together, pausing for a
second before grabbing a fallen opponent or punching a stunned one to
regenerate a bit of stamina, the extra little bit may be enough to beat the
challenge.

Challenge #5: Title Defense!
----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Now that you've got the belt around your waist, everyone's itching for a
chance to take it from you. Successfully defend your title to earn some extra
cash, but be warned - if you lose this title defense, you'll have to re-enter
the Tier Tournament to get it back.
--

Prerequisites: Hold the Northern Title.

Strategy: This is a typical fight against one of the generic opponents. Use a
strategy similar to what worked for you on Supreme, Andrew WK, and the Double
or Nothing challenges.

If you lose you'll need to play through the Northern Tournament at the pool
again, but you'll still have access to the Carnival. Previously completed
title defenses in other areas will remain completed. When you win the
Tournament again you can make another attempt at this challenge.

If things are going poorly you can be cheap an quit mid battle to preserve
your title. Powering off at the "You Suck" screen works as well to preserve
your title.

-------------
6.3.2 Brewery
-------------

Area Overview
-------------

This area is a brewery with stacked kegs that can be knock down to expand the
combat area.

Low Platforms: Table at front, platform behind pile of kegs

High Platforms: stack of beer cases to right of platform behind kegs and the
platform above them.

Destroyable items: table at front, stack of kegs, crate to the front right

Weapons: case of beer to right, pile of destroyed table (breakable but smaller
piece can still be used), kegs from toppled pile

Environmental: Near table (one time only as it destroys the table), bottle
conveyor

Hazards: None

Spectators for interactions: None

Notes: The table top and kegs are difficult weapons to use so you'll need to
rely on the enviro-mental attack by the bottle conveyor to the left which does
a moderate amount of damage. You can also try stringing together grapples and
combos.

Mission #1: Reversal Test
-------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Reverse Fifteen Grapples

It's time to see just how good your Reversal skills are. this mission is so
difficult because it requires leaving yourself open for Grapples, but at the
same time, you have to be clever enough to defeat the Throw time and again!
Plan to stay on this mission for a while; fifteen Reversals is no walk in the
park.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the western title.

Strategy: You need to let yourself get grapples for this, start out by
blocking
and wait for you opponent to grapple you or grapple him and try the reversals
after you opponent does one of his/her own. Try to second guess which type of
grapple attack your opponent will use and press the appropriate button to
reverse it. You have a 25% chance of guessing correctly from a front grapple
at a 33.3% chance from side or back grapples as the Irish whip is not
available for those. Guess right fifteen times to complete this mission.

The grapple reversals can (as most likely will) come in different fights.
Progress will be saved if you return to the level select screen. Complete the
match after finishing the mission to earn the bonus points and money.

Mission #2: Attack Counters 2
-----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Perform Four Attack Counters in a Single Match

You've probably noticed by now that Attack Counters use up a ton of Turbo
Meter
- well that's because they're so good! You're going to have to make your
Attack Counter attempts count, because a bad guess will leave you without
Turbo for a very, very long time. some good avoidance skills are definitely
required to help you refill your Meter. Hopefully this mission teaches you
the
value of Attack Counters. Perform four in a single match.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the western title.

Strategy: You're going to need to work on your timing for the attack counters
in this mission. Avoid your opponent will your turbo meter fills, then when
your opponent is about to attack, push both buttons required for the attack
counter at the same time.

I find that it's easiest to time if your opponent is using the broken table
top as a weapon, after breaking the table run around until it gets picked up
and prepare to attempt the attack counter.

Repeat three more time in the same match to complete the mission.

If the table top ends up on the side of the area pick it up and drop it in the
center.

Complete the match after finishing the mission to earn the bonus points and
money.

Mission #3: El Drunko Hunt
--------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat El Drunko Three Times

Beating up on El Drunko is only slightly more difficult than beating up on
Horndog. But, taking these guys down a peg is sometimes just what you need to
recharge your batteries and keep you motivated on your way to a million bucks.
Find The Drunk, beat The Drunk. Repeat two more times, move on.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the western title.

Strategy: Fight matches until you encounter and defeat the El Drunko. The El
Drunko is a Backyard Wrestling Celebrity that has been mixed in with the
generic wrestlers in the northern tier.

Either chain together grapples and combos or try the enviro-mental attack by
the bottle conveyor with does a moderate amount of damage.

You can save your progress between victory by quitting to the level select
screen. If a wrestler other than the El Drunko appears you can quit and
restart the mission to save time.

Mission #4: Guard Break Test
----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Perform Five Guard Breaks

They say repetition is a great teacher - I guess we'll find out some enough!
You're going to need Guard Breaks more and more as you face better and better
competition - Blocking is viable in so many situations, it's hard to resist
the
urge to do it. Get your opponent blocking by performing the first one to two
hits of your Punch and Kick combos in rapid succession. When they try to
block the onslaught, blast them with a guard Break five times.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the western title.

Strategy: You'll need to build up some turbo for this. Keep using basic
attacks against your opponent until he/she starts to block. Hold the turbo
button while standing still facing your opponent and press either attack
button to pull off the Guard break. Repeat four more time to complete the
mission.

The guard breaks can come in different fights. Progress will be saved if you
return to the level select screen. Complete the match after finishing the
mission to earn the bonus points and money.

Mission #5: Submissions Test
----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Perform Thirty Submissions

Submissions are a great all-around throw to be used liberally. In conjunction
with the staple Slam and Attack throws, Submissions offer a triple-threat of
damage potential from the Grapple. Practice mashing to get the most out of
all
thirty Submissions required to complete this mission.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the western title.

Strategy: All you need to do is repeatedly grapple and use the submission
attack. Ground submissions work as well so if you have a lot of turbo build
up use one while your opponent is on the ground following a grapple
submission.

The submissions can and likely will come in different fights. Progress will be
saved if you return to the level select screen. Complete the match after
finishing the mission to earn the bonus points and money.

Challenge #1: Tylene Buck!
--------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat Tylene Buck!

Backyard Wrestling's resident ball breaker Tylene Buck had challenged you to
an exhibition match! Tylene is a tried and true veteran of the squared
circle, so beating her will be no small feat. Watch out for her incredibly
quick Punch and Kick Combos, as well as her fast hitting Ground Attacks.
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Brewery missions.

Strategy: Without a decent weapon you need to rely on stringing together
grapples and combos as well as using the enviro-mental at the bottle conveyor
in this fight against Tylene Buck.

Challenge #2: Tera Patrick!
---------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Jobber Wants a Shot

Looks like you're not the only faceless wonder looking for a shot at a million
bucks - you've been challenged by one of the local jobbers to an exhibition
match to showcase your skills. Accept this challenge and pick up a worthwhile
payday, but look out - word on the street is that Tera Patrick is hanging
around the Brewery. You never know when she might show up!
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Brewery missions.

Strategy: You start off facing one of the generic wrestlers. After you do a
bit of damage, Messiah will double team your opponent before taking his/her
place. Either stringing grapples and combos together for this battle or use
the enviro-mental attack by the bottle convey.

Challenge #3: Double or Nothing!
--------------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Double or Nothing!

You've been challenged to a Double or Nothing Match! The details are simple:
win the match, earn double dollar amounts for your win. Lose the match, and
you earn nothing. Go get it!
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Brewery missions.

Strategy: This is a typical fight against one of the generic opponents. Use a
strategy similar to what worked for you on Tylene Buck and Tera Patrick. The
payout is double the normal amount when you win.

Challenge #4: Survival Challenge!
---------------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Survival Challenge!

Looks like you've got another chance to prove yourself! Survive against three
opponents back-to-back and you're on your way to another payday.
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Brewery missions.

Strategy: You'll need to get through three opponents with one stamina bar.
You'll need a fair bit of luck stringing together combos and grapples and
using the enviro-mental by the bottle conveyor to pull this one off.

--

Prerequisites: Hold the Northern Title.

Strategy: This is a typical fight against one of the generic opponents. Use a
strategy similar to what worked for you on Tylene Buck, Tera Patrick, and the
Double or Nothing challenges.

If you lose you'll need to play through the Northern Tournament at the pool
again, but you'll still have access to the Carnival. Previously completed
title defenses in other areas will remain completed. When you win the
Tournament again you can make another attempt at this challenge.

If things are going poorly you can be cheap an quit mid battle to preserve
your title. Powering off at the "You Suck" screen works as well to preserve
your title.

--------------
6.3.3 Junkyard
--------------

Area Overview
-------------

This area is a scrap yard, cars are piled to the right and crushed metal to
the
left.

Low Platforms: scrap pile to left, red van to right after knocking off cars

High Platforms: higher scrap pile to rear left

Destroyable items: cars stacked on red van to rear right, another exhaust pipe
can be knocked of the cars in front of the van

Weapons: exhaust pipe, crutch, tire, black tube (breakable)

Environmental: White car at back

Hazards: None

Spectators for interactions: None

Notes: The muffler at your feet where you start is a good weapon with a good
reach and fast attack speed that can be used to wear down opponents.

Mission #1: Attack Challenge
----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Block Fifty consecutive Attacks

This mission is a grueling one, and one that might see you hit the dirt more
than once. Don't worry about the "consecutive" part too much though - that
only refers to Attacks that you can actually Block. You won't fail the
mission, for instance, if you are Grappled while Blocking. You could even win
or lose the match and pickup where you left off next round. This mission
teaches the importance of not leaving yourself open, and protecting yourself
as much as possible. Block 50 attacks in a row from your opponents.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the western title.

Strategy: Hold down the block button until the fifty blocks in a row have been
obtained. It's possible that the count may get reset by a guard break
followed by a combo but hopefully that won't happen too many times. The other
possible thing that can break the sequence is an attack throw, so if you're
being grappled, always guess the attack throw when pressing a button for a
reversal.

The sequence of blocks can span multiple matches. Complete the match after
finishing the mission to earn the bonus points and money.

Mission #2: Time Attack 2
-------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat Opponent in Less Than One Minute Thirty Seconds

The Time Attacks to end all Time Attacks! If you can maximize your damage
potential, you should have more than enough time to get the job done. If you
can't , well, then you really shouldn't be trying to win a million bucks,
should you?
--

Prerequisites: Have won the western title.

Strategy: Grab the exhaust pipe and use it to wear down your opponent
quickly. I've done this is a 53 second perfect victory using the exhaust pipe
exclusively.

Mission #3: Flawless Victory
----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Win a match with 100% Stamina

don't read this thinking you must win without ever being hit or thrown,
because
you don't. Remember, your Stamina regenerates over time while you are
standing idle. If you're ready to beat your opponent but you've taken some
damage along the way, just let your Stamina bar regenerate completely before
going for the win. The Stamina bar turns green when full. You only need one
of these to complete your mission.

--

Prerequisites: Have won the western title.

Strategy: Grab the exhaust pipe and use it to wear down your opponent quickly,
hopefully without being hit. If you do get hit try running away and pausing
to regenerate cycling between the top of the red van on the right and the
lower part of the crushed metal on the left, although it might be faster to
just start over. If your opponent is on the ground and almost out of stamina
consider dropping the weapon and finished the match off with a ground
submission.

Mission #4: Make that Money
---------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Earn $65 in a Single Match

The better you perform, the more money you earn; it's that simple. It stands
to reason, then, that encouraging you to earn more and more money will make
you a better wrestler. So, that's what's going to happen here. First Attacks,
Weapon Use, and Enviro--Mental Throws all earn big dollars, so pay attention
to those. It also might help to try out low damage moves like Punch and Kick
Combos, which can rack up good money over time.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the western title.

Strategy: $65 means at least 6401 points. The getting in the first hit will
earn you 1000 point and the time bonus will likely be between 800-900. That
leaves about 4500-4600 point to earn. Weapons do too much damage in
proportion to points earned (maybe 2400 for the fight) so use grapples and
combos, a good mix of those will net over 5000 points allowing you to complete
the mission. The 5000 point for completion the mission doesn't count in the
$65 total.

Mission #5: Win Streak Final
----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Win Ten Match in a Row

finally, the ultimate Win Streak challenge. Hopefully you've been training
hard, because these ten guys are all that's between you and greatness. If you
can beat ten of the Northern Federation's best in a row, you might just have a
chance at that million bucks.
--

Prerequisites: Have won the Western title.

Strategy: You need to win tem matches in a row against generic opponents. Use
exhaust pipe at your feet as weapon to wear down the opponents. Your stamina
is regenerated for each new match in the series.

If you lose the count gets reset forcing you to start over. Progress will be
saved if you return to the level select screen, so you can be cheap and quit
mid battle when you get in trouble to preserve your win streak.

Challenge #1: Sandman!
----------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat Sandman With Only Half Turbo!

Sandman has put down the beer long enough to challenge you to a match. it's a
sure bet that he's eager to get back to the drinking, though, so he probably
won't be too kind to you. to make things really interesting, you only have
half your normal Turbo Meter, which means Grapple Meter Escape and Attack
Counters will be impossible. Fight past your shortcomings and put the Sandman
to sleep.
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Junkyard missions.

Strategy: With the exhaust pipe handy at you feet you probably won't even
notice the turbo handicap! Pick it up to wear the Sandman down.

Challenge #2: Sonjay Dutt!
--------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Jobber Wants a Shot

Looks like you're not the only faceless wonder looking for a shot at a million
bucks - you've been challenged by one of the local jobbers to an exhibition
match to showcase your skills. Accept this challenge and pick up a worthwhile
payday, but look out - word on the street is that Sonjay Dutt is hanging
around the yard. You never know when he might show up!
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Junkyard missions.

Strategy: You start off facing one of the generic wrestlers. After you do a
bit of damage, Sonjay Dutt will interrupt the fight before taking your
opponent's place. It you use the exhaust pipe against the generic opponent it
may disappear for the battle against Messiah, against whom it can be used to
great effect, but a second one can be obtained with a dash attack into the
vehicles in the front right. Consider stringing grapples and combo together
for this battle as well.

Challenge #3: Double or Nothing!
--------------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Double or Nothing!

You've been challenged to a Double or Nothing Match! The details are simple:
win the match, earn double dollar amounts for your win. Lose the match, and
you earn nothing. Go get it!
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Junkyard missions.

Strategy: This is a typical fight against one of the generic opponents. Use a
strategy similar to what worked for you on Sandman and Sonjay Dutt. The
payout is double the normal amount when you win.

Challenge #4: Survival Challenge!
---------------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Survival Challenge!

Looks like you've got another chance to prove yourself! Survive against three
opponents back-to-back and you're on your way to another payday.
--

Prerequisites: Finish the five Junkyard missions.

Strategy: You'll need to get through three opponents with one stamina bar.
Expertise with the exhaust pipe is a must if you want to survive this.

--

Prerequisites: Hold the Northern Title.

Strategy: This is a typical fight against one of the generic opponents. Use a
strategy similar to what worked for you on Sandman, Sonjay Dutt, and the
Double or Nothing challenges.

If you lose you'll need to play through the Northern Tournament at the pool
again, but you'll still have access to the Carnival. Previously completed
title defenses in other areas will remain completed. When you win the
Tournament again you can make another attempt at this challenge.

If things are going poorly you can be cheap an quit mid battle to preserve
your title. Powering off at the "You Suck" screen works as well to preserve
your title.

Title Tournament
----------------

A cut scene plays at the beginning of the tournament.

Prerequisites: Finish the fifteen Northern Tier missions.

Strategy: The northern tournament is held at the pool. You'll face four of
the generic opponents on your way to the top. Uses strategies similar to
fighting Sandman, Sanjay Dutt, on the Double or Nothing challenges (assuming
you didn't skip them).

If you return to the level select your tournament progress will be lost.

Another cut scene plays after winning the tournaments and the World Tier at
the Carnival is unlocked. The Northern tier title defences are now available
so you can go back to the Construction Site, Brewery, and Junkyard to complete
those.

==============
6.4 World Tier
==============

The final tier has only one area, the Carnival. This area is unlocked after
obtaining the Northern Title. There are no missions here, just five mandatory
challenges which must be done is sequence to wrest the World Title away from
the Insane Clown Posse.

--------------
6.4.1 Carnival

back side of ring is destroyed.

Destroyable items: Sides of initial ring, table at front, white structure to

Hazards: None

Spectators for interactions: None

Notes: The two weapons of note are the weed whacker on the platform to the
rear left which has the longest reach but a slow attack, and the claws by the
white structure on the ground to the right, which has a faster attack but a
short reach. Most of the challenges here impose some sort of handicap on you
that may preclude the use of weapons.

Challenge #1: Joe Peterson!
---------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat Joe Peterson in a street Fight!

Looks like contest winner Joe Peterson is making the most out of his
opportunity with a birth right on to the Main stage! Peterson's challenging
you to a street Fight, whereby the only thing that's going to hurt him are
Punch and Kick Combos, Turbo Attacks, and Guard Breaks, and the only way you
can stop him is by Knockout! This not-so average Joe can still hurt you any
way he please. Take Peterson out and you're on your way to Round Two!
--

Prerequisites: Win the Northern Title.

Strategy: You're going to need to use combos on Peterson to knock him down.
Wait for him to get up at use a turbo attack to knock him back down or a guard
break to stun him to set up another combo. If he grapples you try to evade or
reverse and attempt an attack throw to set up a combo.

While the moves than would tap him out don't hurt him, going for a pin will
disqualify you if you forget the knockout requirement.

Challenge #2: Madman Pondo!
---------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat Mad Man Pondo in a Hardcore Match!

A lesson in Hardcore indeed. Mad Man Pondo, the craziest, most insane
wrestler around is your next challenge. What's worse is that the match is
definitely stacked in his favor: this is a Hardcore Match; only environment
interactions like Weapon use, Enviro-Mental throws, and background destruction
are going to faze Pondo. Of course, Pondo still has his full arsenal of
tricks to use against you. Do you have what it takes?
--

Prerequisites: Beat Joe Peterson

Strategy: The enviro-mental attack in the front right corner and the claws by
the white structure on the right are probably your best bets for this fight.
Start off with a combo to break out of the starting ring and either grab the
claws or grappler for the enviro-mental.

Challenge #3: Vampiro!
----------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat Vampiro in an Greco-Roman Match!

Vampiro wants to put you in a casket. By the looks of it, that's a very
possible goal. While Vampiro throws everything but the kitchen sink at you,
you're going to have to display your Grappling skills - in this Greco-Roman
Match, the only moves worth a damn against Vampiro are Grapples, and the Pin
is the only match-ender Vampiro is going to respect. Avoid being put six-feet
under and go for the win!
--

Prerequisites: Beat Madman Pondo

Strategy: You'll need to string together grapples for this fight to wear
Vampiro down. Ground submissions, enviro-mental attacks and super moves work
as well. Other attack are useless, except if he's standing with the smallest
sliver of stamina use a combo, as that won't hurt him, to knock him down so
you can go for the pin. Knocking or tapping him out with one of the grapple
attacks results in disqualification.

Challenge #4: Rude Boy!
-----------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat Rude Boy in a Double Damage/Half Damage Match!

Rude Boy is all that's left between you and the Main Event. Unfortunately,
that couldn't be worse for you! rude Boy is tough as nails and hits like a
brick, and if it seems that way when you fight him, that's because he hits you
twice as hard as anyone else, yet when you attack him, it only effects him
half as much as it would anyone else! It's going to take everything you've
got to pull out the win here - and even that may not be enough!
--

Prerequisites: Beat Vampiro

Strategy: The handicap makes this is like fighting four opponents in a row on
the same stamina bar. See if you can use the claws or weed whacker
effectively against him or try stringing grapples and combos together, taking
brief pauses to regenerate while he's stunned or on the ground. You're
probably
best of trying for a pin when his red stamina bar is about 1.5x the width of
one of the digits in the time clock.

Challenge #5: Shaggy 2 Dope!
----------------------------

In Game Description:
--
Defeat The Insane Clown Posse in A Handicap Match!

This is it! Your whole career has brought you to this moment! The World
Championship, the million dollar cash prize, the respect of hardcore wrestlers
and wrestling fans worldwide are all within your reach. The last obstacle
left in your way is the Insane Clown Posse! that's right, to win the whole
ball of wax you must defeat both Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope in a Handicap
match! Take your guts, your iron will, and everything you've learned and put
it to the test inside the Dark Carnival. It's all up to you now!
--

Prerequisites: Beat Rude Boy

Strategy: The match starts out against Shaggy 2 Dope. String combos and
grapples against him, using the enviro-mental in the front right corner when
ever you can. The claws can also be effective. Once you get him to 20%
stamina, Violent J with knock you off him and take over with full stamina and
turbo. Continue stringing combos and grapples and using the claws and enviro-
mental attack in the front right corner.

A cutscene and the credits play after your defeat Violent J and you receive
$1,000,000 for winning the final challenge in the carnival. Use it to unlock
the remaining accessories and movies. If this is your first career the
Backyard Brawlers can now be selected for subsequent careers.
